Recent Highlights: Restoring, Repairing & Preserving Homes Across the Twin Cities
At New Leaf Restorations, every week brings something new — from large-scale transformations to small details that make a big difference. Lately, we’ve been tackling a wide range of projects that showcase both our craftsmanship and our love for historic homes in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Battling Ant Damage with Craftsmanship (and Partnerships)
One of our most fascinating throwbacks involved saving a two-story structural column that had been hollowed out by carpenter ants and weakened by years of moisture. Instead of replacing the column with something inauthentic, we reinforced it from the inside with a hidden structural post, then rebuilt and painted it to look original.
And while Greenix wasn’t part of that particular project, we’re excited to announce them as a new referral partner. They handle carpenter ants (and other pests), and we handle the repairs — a perfect one-two punch to keep historic homes safe.
Going Vertical: Gutters, Rooflines & Scaffolding in Summit-University
In St. Paul’s Summit-University neighborhood, our crew has been working high off the ground to restore integral galvanized gutters, repair rotted wood, and install copper liners for long-term protection. It’s intricate work that requires safe scaffolding setups and skilled carpentry, but the end result keeps water flowing properly and the historic details intact.
From Garage to Wellness Retreat in Waite Park
Not every transformation involves the exterior. In the Waite Park neighborhood of Minneapolis, we’re reimagining a garage into a wellness retreat complete with a gym and sauna. So far, we’ve installed insulation, sheetrock, and paint — and most recently, a stunning epoxy floor. It’s shaping up to be one of the most unique projects of the year.
Keeping Homes Strong in St. Anthony
In St. Anthony, MN, we recently completed a project that combined carpentry repairs, a new roof, and fresh gutters. The result? A home that not only looks sharp but is also built to stand up to Minnesota’s weather for decades to come.
Small Details, Big Difference
It’s not always about big renovations. Sometimes it’s about the small repairs that homeowners notice every day — like the second-story office flooring repair we completed in Kenwood. By removing, replacing, and refinishing just one worn section, we restored the seamless look of the entire floor.
Why We Share These Projects
Whether it’s repairing ant damage, bracing historic porches, lining gutters with copper, or turning a garage into a retreat, each project is a reminder of why we do what we do:
Preserve the historic character of Twin Cities homes
Strengthen and modernize their structure for the future
Deliver craftsmanship that lasts
Big or small, every project gets our best.
